From the first survey to the final account. We are a small practice working across the south of England on private houses, hospitality and healthcare property — surveying buildings, running the projects that change them, and staying with the job to the end.
Davolls Jones was founded by James Davolls and Samuel Jones MRICS. Between us we cover chartered building surveying, project management and contract administration, and the construction side of getting a building built.
We work directly with the person paying for the building. There is no account manager and no handover: whoever surveys your building is whoever runs the job and answers the phone about it.
We are consultants, not contractors. We do not carry out the works and we take no margin on them, so what we tell you is about the building rather than about the next job.
Most of our work is on private houses, hospitality and healthcare property — buildings where the people using them are living with the result, and where the work has to be done around them.
We are based in Godalming and work across Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex and London.

Whoever writes the report is whoever answers the phone about it. Nothing is handed to a delivery team you have not met.
A written scope with a fixed fee or an agreed rate, ex VAT where applicable, so you know what you are buying and what sits outside it.
We are paid by you and we act for you. We have no interest in who wins the job and nothing to recover on the works.
Instructions, valuations, variations and site records are issued at the time, not reconstructed at the end when there is a disagreement.
A short description of the property and what you are trying to do with it is enough to start. We will tell you honestly whether it is work we are the right people for.
